David Starley HND BSc PhD
David Starley is a qualified metallurgist, graduate archaeological scientist and postgraduate researcher in medieval iron and steel production. He has specialised in ferrous archaeometallurgy for the past 30 years. Having previously been employed by the former English Heritage Ancient Monuments Lab and The Royal Armouries, he now works as a freelance archaeometallurgical specialist providing a service for Border Archaeology and other archaeological units, museums and other heritage organisations to complement the expertise within their own staff.
David provides a flexible approach and can be chosen to provide input at any stage of an archaeological project, depending on the historic importance of metalworking activity on the site, from initial planning to final republication.
