Heritage Consultancy: Head of New Business Development

Remuneration: market leading – company car optional

We are looking for a focused self-motivated individual to join our Heritage team in a new position especially tailored to the successful candidate.  You will have a background in archaeology & historic environment practice with a demonstrable track-record in heritage consultancy and the management of consultants working on diverse projects with new and existing clients.

You will be degree educated and have experience of working cross-functionally at all levels in a geographically dispersed organisation and of managing multi-disciplinary teams.

With a strong track record of leadership, you will have proven ability to (1) create and drive a high performing team, (2) demonstrate extensive knowledge of the historic environment of England and the role of heritage consultancy in the planning eco-system & (3) deliver new business opportunities.

Reporting to senior management, you will be expected to obtain and sustain new business opportunities throughout the South of England.

Location: Shoreditch or Milton Keynes

Travel: a willingness and ability to travel is an essential prerequisite

We have opportunities for experienced Field Archaeologists seeking to develop their career.

Our projects include large-scale open area multi-phase excavations, ranging from the Iron Age to the early Medieval, which offer opportunities for professional advancement and development; from our Milton Keynes hub, we regularly undertake smaller projects, in both urban and rural areas, providing our staff with experience of all facets of Commercial Archaeology and greater autonomy and responsibility.

Essential Criteria:

A minimum of 6 months’ Commercial Archaeology experience

Ability to work to standards and deadlines

IT literate

Driving Licence

Archaeology (or related) degree (preferably post-graduate)

Applicants must be suitably experienced archaeologists with the requisite qualifications to fit into Border Archaeology’s management team.

General responsibilities will include project management, report writing/editing and helping to grow and improve the Company’s already high standards.

Salary and working hours by negotiation but a substantial remuneration package is envisaged for the right candidate.

Excellent communication skills
