Experienced Field Archaeologists

We have opportunities for experienced Field Archaeologists seeking to develop their career.

Our projects include large-scale open area multi-phase excavations, ranging from the Iron Age to the early Medieval, which offer opportunities for professional advancement and development; from our Milton Keynes hub, we regularly undertake smaller projects, in both urban and rural areas, providing our staff with experience of all facets of Commercial Archaeology and greater autonomy and responsibility.

Essential Criteria:

A minimum of 6 months’ Commercial Archaeology experience

Ability to work to standards and deadlines

IT literate

Driving Licence

Archaeology (or related) degree (preferably post-graduate)

Environmental Science Department – Trainee/ Assistant/ Manager

Trainee/ Assistant

The main duties will be manually processing large volumes of archaeological soil samples for the recovery of palaeoenvironmental material, using water flotation. This role can be physically demanding and repetitive, requiring manual dexterity with good attention to detail.

Additional duties may include accurately and efficiently sorting the palaeoenvironmental retents and flots in preparation for report writing.

We have an opportunity for someone who is passionate about Archaeology to become Archaeological Illustrator at our Leominster site.

You should have demonstrable experience in digital and technical drawing and surveying and show an interest in cutting-edge software applications which could be used in archaeology such as 3D modelling and digital recording.

The main duties are auditing and troubleshooting during the production of digital drawings and plans to publication standard for our archaeological reports, working to tight deadlines while maintaining professional standards.

Supporting the team in the development and implementation of site recording strategies and exploring new technologies and software applications.

Essential Criteria:

·       Proficient in the use of Adobe creative cloud applications, in particular  

        Illustrator and Photoshop

·       IT literate

·       Excellent problem solving skills

·       Ability to work to standards and deadlines

·       Ability to work well in a team

·       Exceptional attention to detail

·       Good communication skills

Desired Criteria:

·       Knowledge of CAD/GIS/3D modelling software

·       Experience in archaeological surveying (TST/GPS)

·       Current driving licence

·       CIfA membership

·       Degree in Art and Design/ Archaeology or a related subject

·       InDesign
