Ian studied Archaeology and Social Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh, completing a Master’s in Human Osteoarchaeology in 2011 before moving on to a second MSc in Conservation Practice at Cardiff University.

Ian joined Border’s Post-Excavation Department in January 2017 and currently holds the position of Manager: Photographic Data Auditing and Conservation responsible for photographic data compliance and finds photography and for the management of digital reporting via OASIS and the Archaeology Data Service (ADS).
