Archaeological Evaluation
Key Points
- Programme of archaeological evaluation
- 16 evaluation trenches
- Post-medieval features
Summary
A total of 16 trenches representing 5% of the development area located in Surrey and measuring c. 14,566m2. Of these trenches only two contained features of post-medieval date relating to the use as a kitchen garden and field boundary system in the Post-medieval to modern periods.
Results
Dating for the features came from the recovery of pottery, ceramic building material and palaeoenvironmental sampling. The pottery, mainly glazed ware, were dated to the mid-18th to 20th Century, whilst the CBM, consisting of flat roof tile, was post medieval in date.
No further archaeological works were required as a result of this programme of Field Evaluations.
