George Children
George studied Archaeology & Anthropology at Cambridge specializing in the Art & Archaeology of Mesopotamia. He began his archaeological career with the former Hereford City Council Archaeology Unit, working on excavations, evaluations and watching briefs on sites across the historic city, one of several historic towns awarded the national heritage designation of Area of Archaeological Importance. These included the role of Planning Supervisor on the excavation at Hereford Cathedral prior to the construction of the new Mappa Mundi Museum and archive library.
There followed a period in teaching before George resumed his archaeological career, working continuously with Border Archaeology since 2001. As Director: Quality and Compliance, his role encompasses Quality Assurance, ISO, project standards compliance and editing.
