Work/volunteer placement – Evesham

16th March 2022

We were recently asked if we could offer some work/volunteering experience for someone considering a Master degree in Archaeology, having gained one in history and with a consuming passion for Archaeology.

We had a site conveniently local and suitable to accommodate a volunteer for a few days, so we arranged for their attendance which included an on-site induction including health and safety information and then an introduction to the world of commercial archaeology.

After a couple of enjoyable days, with varying weather, always a good tester for someone considering archaeology, we have had some lovely feedback.

“I just wanted to personally thank you for allowing me the opportunity to work with Joe and the team down at the Evesham site.

It was a real pleasure getting to know them all in the brief time I spent with them and finding out more about archaeological digs work in practice, and even getting valuable hands-on experience. It has made me want to pursue a career in archaeology and I have already been looking to book a couple weeks away at a dig site in the summer and looking for trainee archaeology roles.

Please pass my thanks on to Joe and the team down at the Evesham site for looking after me and showing me the ropes, I will always be grateful for the time I spent with them.”
